The summer of deliciousness, take two.
Last night—with the help of some organic Willamette Valley vino—I tried my hand at another Sunset recipe, this grilled salmon with cucumber salad.
The recipe was courtesy of Maria Hines, the chef at Tilth; the salmon was caught off the coast of British Columbia by Mama and Papa Clemons; the green stuff was uprooted from my potted herb garden.
Note to you salmon-cookers: Fish takes an obscenely long time to cook if it’s still partially frozen. Weird, I know. Consider yourself warned. The great thing is, whenever I make a rookie meat/fish blunder, I always have a fall-back: ‘Hey, I first learned to cook as a vegetarian, so get off my back!’ Sheesh.
Adam and Jasper provided moral support during the dinner-making. Well, mostly Adam drank tea and paid bills while Jasper attempted to hide between his legs. It was adorable.
Dinner was delicious. I may have gone a little dill-crazy, but really, everything is better with more dill.
Okay, enough about the dinner, because I know all you care about is your country porn ration. Moving on…
We watched the Blindside last night. I obviously cried into my wine the whole movie.
Adam rocked out to the country tune at the end, which prompted me to ask who sung it, to which Adam supplied ‘Tim McGraw,’ which jolted some synapses in Adam’s brain, which led him to realize that Tim was apparently an actor these days, which led me to…these delicious photos. Who needs porn when Tim is posing for black and white shots with his cowboy hat and guitar?
