Winter blues remedied

I got cabin fever, and the only prescription is more snowshoeing.

Come January, there comes a point when I can only take so much darkness and so much rain. At that point, cabin fever inevitably sets in. Fortunately, the past few days have been clear and gorgeous, and somehow I ended up with the sweetest man on the planet and the world’s most adorable dog. All remedies for even the most serious case of the winter blues.

Today, after a lazy and slightly hungover Saturday, we coffeed up and hit the road. Our original destination was Lost Lake, but it was packed with snowmobilers, so we headed over to Lake Kacheese to repeat the snowy waterside trek Doodle, Jasper, and I had done last winter.

The sun was out, the air was perfectly crisp, and spirits were high. It was the ideal antitode to the mid-winter funk.

Gorgeous day on Lake Kacheese

Jasper, on leash, lest he devour a defenseless sledder...

Really, could this scene be more picturesque?
